What activities do you most like to do after the classes?

Every Monday, we publish the list of the extra curricular activities scheduled for that week on this blog. And extra curricular activities are fundamental interest for this school. Hence, we have decided to do a survey for Tía Tula’s students which they could comment about which activities like most, which less and which activities do you want to be offered by the school...All in all: we want to learn what kind of activities do you most like to do out of the class. (to be clear,we refer about activities coordinated by school...)

Tía Tula’s Survey about Extracurricular Activities

Spanish day 12/10/12.

The 12/10/12 is a national holiday in Spain and it is called ´Día de la hispanidad´ but what does that mean?

This public holiday is a holiday that takes place every year on the 12^th October to commemorate the anniversary of Christopher Columbus´s arrival in the Americas. 

This day is also a day which is celebrated in other countries as well as Spain. In Spain, it´s also a day which is dedicated to the patron Saint of the Hispanic people ´nuestra señora del Pilar´ and to the Spanish civil guard. 

It is known as the ´Día de la hispanidad´ to emphasise Spain´s connection to the international Hispanic community. 

The day was first held in Madrid in 1935. Nowadays the armed forces do a military parade through Madrid. 

The day isn´t celebrated very much; there are no parades as such, just the military parade in Madrid and no events are planned.     

So if you were wondering what it´s all about, know you have a an idea.

Extra-curricular activities 8th-12th October

Monday 8^th, 19.00. Cards: You’re going to learn how to play at Spanish cards. Price: Your consumption. Meeting point: Tía Tula Approximate duration: 1h

Tuesday 9th, 19.45. Cinema:. LA TÍA TULA by Miguel Picazo. One of the best and most representative films from the new Spanish cinema of the 60’s.

Price:1,20€. The meeting point is Tia Tula. Approximate duration: 104 mins.

Wednesday 10th, 19.30. Cooking class:  4 TAPAS GALLEGAS. You’re going to learn how to make tapas gallegas and then you can eat it.

Meeting place: Tía Tula. Approximate duration: 1h. Price: 7 €

Thursday 11^th, 19.30. Bowling. We will go to the bowling alley and have a game of bowling. Price: your consumption + participation in each game (+- 3 €) Meeting point: Tía Tula Approximate duration: 1h30

Friday the 12^th.  Spanish public holiday   (Day of ‘hispanidad’)

Remember to sign up for the activity at reception beforehand (the minimum number of people needed for each activity is 3). If the cost is not stated then the activity is free. We recommend our students to participate in the activities so they can get to know other students in the school, so they can broaden their knowledge of Spanish culture and to practice and improve their Spanish in a fun way.

You can enjoy the advantages of our city: pedestrian streets and all the main avenues. If you’re in Salamanca for a while, it is essential to discover its secrets and wonders!

We musn´t forget that we’re lucky to live in a convivial and welcoming city, which is full of green spaces and pedestrian streets. The bike is such a good conveyance to have fun and practice sport!

It’s always a good opportunity to have a good time with your friends in one of the most beautiful cities in Spain.

Extra-curricular activities 1st-5th October

Monday 1^st, 18.00. Tour of Salamanca. Somebody from the school will tell you the story of the main historical monuments in the centre. Meeting point: Tía Tula Approximate duration: 1h

Tuesday 2^nd, 19.30. Tapas, we will go looking for the best tapas in the centre of Salamanca. Price: +-6 Euro. The meeting point is Tia Tula. Approximate duration: 1h30.

Wednesday 3^rd, 19.00. Exhibition: ‘Una vuelta al mundo de la linterna mágica’, by Francisco Javier Frutos and Agustín Gutiérrez. In the Espacio de Cultura Científica (Hospedería Fonseca). Meeting place: Tía Tula. Approximate duration: 1h

Thursday 4^th, 12.00. Tour of Salamanca. Somebody from the school will tell you the story of the main historical monuments in the centre. Meeting point: Tía Tula Approximate duration: 1h

Friday the 5^th, 17.00. Cinema. We will go and see a recent Spanish film. Get immersed in the Spanish language through a good story and cinematography. If you don’t know Spanish cinema, this is a good opportunity and not one to miss! The meeting point is Tia Tula. Approximate duration: 2h.
