Last week Tía
Tula braved the heat and went horse riding. At first we were given a mini
lesson on how to ride the horse to make sure that we could all handle them on
our ride out and then we left the stables in single file.
The ride
lasted around an hour and it took us along the green banks of the river and
even through the water! The owner told us that this area around the banks of
the river is always green, no matter what time of year it is. This is because
all the farmers around the area use the free water from the river to water the
plants…as we found out when we got wet going under one of the sprinklers. As
you are driving towards ´La Huerta´ you can see how the landscape changes from
a yellow colour to green and the reverse as you are leaving the area.
All the
horses behaved themselves apart from the one at the back who kept pinching bits
to eat and then trotting really fast to catch up with the gang… it´s rider
wasn´t too amused!
After we had
finished riding we were all so hot from the blazing sun that we decided to swim
in the river. It was so refreshing but there were a lot of fish watching you
swim.
So if you´re
looking to do something different and interesting, Tía Tula recommends the
´ruta a caballo´. For more information, you can visit their website.
Horseback ride was really good! Very relaxing and great scenery.
